This is one book that I liked immediately. It is packed with hearty solid recipes which are not too fussy or fancy. The sort of recipes you would cook at home for your family on a cold winters day - or indeed any day for my family!

I particulary liked the Poultry & Game section. Here you will find recipes such as Venison Steaks with Cranberry Cumberland Sauce, Moroccan Baked Chicken with Chickpeas and Rice, Traditional Roast Stuffed Chicken and Venison Sausages Braised in Red Wine.

The Sunday Lunch Revival chapter is also great, featuring long titled treats such as Classic Roast Pork with Crackling and Roasted Stuffed Apples with Thyme and Parsley. Other recipes include Roast RIbs of Tradational Beef, Steak and Kidney Pudding, Autumn Lamb Braised in Beaujolais and Roast Gammon with Blackened Crackling.

The book also contains sections on Soups, Starters, Seafood, Vegetarian, Casseroles, Vegetables, Desserts, Puddings, Baking and Preserves. In common with the two previously mentioned chapters, there are lots of delicious recipes. As with Delia Smith's Summer Collection, there are only a photos of a few of the recipes - a real shame - but the recipes are set out in the typical straight forward fashion you would expect from Delia Smith.

I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this book. If, like me, you love big hearty meals, then this is one book you must buy.
